Meet the world's largest all-terrain crane manufactured by XCMG

November 16, 2022

(MAKRO Group Press) – Machinery manufacturer XCMG has tested its new all-terrain crane model called XCA2600, which is considered to be the world’s largest crane in its class with a capacity of 2,600 tons. The tests were successfully executed, completing the lifting of a 173-ton load prior to its planned delivery to a wind farm in China, where it will be responsible for installing turbines.

With a maximum lifting height of 160 meters, this vehicle is the tallest all-terrain crane in the world and outperforms the competition by 20%. In addition, its maximum load moment rating reaches 5372 ton-meters and it employs a total counterweight of 340 tons to control the vehicle’s stability.

The XCA2600 is the first crane to use a 3.5-meter wide ten-axle chassis, which together with other structures and technologies such as the patented independent suspension and live axle system, provides vehicle stability.

In the words of XCMG Crane’s chief engineer Shan Zenghai, one of the biggest challenges facing this class of vehicle will be balance:
“It can be difficult for large cranes to strike a balance between achieving high lifting capacity and moving comfortably, especially for those that need to install wind turbines at a height of 160 meters. Achieving this requires technological innovation and dedication to the customer and their needs for height, accessibility and safety.”

XCMG has seen a substantial improvement in the development of its products, especially in terms of cranes, since in less than 10 years of its incursion it has managed to go from a capacity of less than 800 tons to position itself in vehicles of 2,600 tons.

Currently, the company has sold more than 100 vehicles of this class with capacities of more than 1,200 tons, which have been used to install more than 15,000 wind turbines.

It is in the wind energy industry where there is a great acceptance for all-terrain cranes of high dimensions since the turbines that are installed usually reach 260 meters and special attention is given to both height and the wingspan of these turbines since they are associated with the performance of the generators.

Bobcat unveils 2-ton electric mini-excavator at Bauma

October 24, 2022

(MAKRO Group Press) – Bobcat has introduced a new 2-ton mini-excavator to complement its ever-expanding range of electric machines.

The E19e, an electric version of Bobcat’s popular E19 internal combustion (IC) model, offers zero emissions, very quiet operation and performance levels comparable to its diesel-powered counterpart. The new machine was unveiled during a special launch event at the manufacturer’s booth on the opening day of Bauma 2022, which is being held in Munich, Germany.

Scott Park, general manager of Doosan Bobcat, said, “With the introduction of the E19e, Bobcat has expanded its electric range of quiet, emission-free machines that can match the excellent performance of our conventional models. This unit will build on the success of our smaller E10e, the world’s first electric mini excavator, which we first introduced at Bauma 2016 and launched commercially during Bauma 2019.”

“Bobcat’s pioneering innovations in the field of battery-powered equipment have helped drive an industry-wide shift toward electric construction equipment,” continued Scott Park. “Our team is proud of their contributions to this segment to date, and we will continue to invest in research and development to further accelerate this important trend.”

Clean and quiet operation

The Bobcat E19e features the same profile, external dimensions and comparable performance as the popular E19 mini-excavator, which has sold more than 10,000 units worldwide. The E19e has the same stability, lifting capacity and breakout forces as its conventional counterpart, while its constant maximum torque curve (a feature of electric motors) ensures reliable and powerful operation. With a width of just 98 cm, the new electric model is easy to operate in even the tightest work spaces, making it ideal for tasks such as demolition, as well as outdoor applications requiring quiet, emission-free operation.

Designed around the needs of the operator, with more space between the consoles, the E19e offers best-in-class comfort levels. With well-placed travel pedals and joysticks, including thumb controls for AUX1 and boom swing functions, all controls have been placed within easy reach of the operator. The introduction of folding travel pedals and the absence of AUX1 pedals and floor-mounted boom travel pedals have served to maximize legroom. In addition to providing a healthier and more comfortable working environment, the E19e’s quiet, emission-free operation also facilitates communication and productivity in the workplace.

The E19e has a 3.5-hour battery capacity and can be quickly recharged with a super fast charger. This means that if power is recharged during work breaks, the machine can be used throughout the day for most common applications. The E19e is also immensely versatile, with a wide range of compatible attachments available. The Bobcat hydraulic thumb attachment, for example, is unique in the market for this size category.

Built for reliability and longevity

Thanks to years of research and development, the E19e is a truly reliable machine. Fully validated and tested by Bobcat using proven components from the smaller E10e model, its premium battery features technology equivalent to that used by the world’s leading electric car manufacturers. The E19e features a 17.3 kWh battery, much larger than the E10e’s 11.5 kWh power source. It also produces very low noise levels on the job site with an LpA (operator noise) of only 70 dBA, 9 dBA less than the diesel E19.

The model’s electrical system and components have been optimized for working in harsh environments and, thanks to the exclusive use of low voltages (the same as on the E10e), the 2-ton mini-excavator is safe and easy to maintain. It also comes with a full manufacturer’s warranty from Bobcat, giving fleet owners and end users peace of mind.

Miroslav Konas, Doosan Bobcat EMEA mini excavator product manager, concluded, “The E19e electric mini excavator combines a safe, near-quiet and emission-free design with the E19’s market-leading features and high performance for working in confined spaces. This makes it the ideal machine for applications such as indoor and outdoor demolition, landscaping and infrastructure work, and other tasks requiring night work or low noise levels. The E19e represents an extremely attractive solution for rental companies and contractors alike.”

Electrical construction machinery on the rise

September 19, 2022

(Press MAKRO Group) – Driving and working with low emissions is currently one of the main development targets in the construction machinery industry. Battery-electric drives are currently the focus of international attention.

The electrification of construction machinery is advancing rapidly. Last year a whole range of new products came back on the market. For example, Volvo Construction Equipment has been taking orders for its ECR25 electric compact excavator and L25 electric wheel loader since February 2020. The first of the machines offered in 13 countries has already been delivered to end customers.

Also last spring, Munich-based manufacturer Wacker Neuson launched the EZ17e mini excavator as a series product. The machines could already be seen the previous year at the international construction machinery trade fair Bauma in Munich. “At bauma 2019, the topic of zero emissions was the absolute focus for us. The trade fair was the perfect platform to present our EZ17e as another piece of the puzzle for completely emission-free construction sites,” says Alexander Greschner, CSO of the Wacker Neuson Group.

As of 2020, CASE Construction Equipment has an electric construction machine in its portfolio for the first time. The 580 EV is not only a first for the US manufacturer, but also the world’s first all-electric backhoe loader.

Maxcontrol the smartphone for heavy machinery

August 15, 2022

(MAKRO Group Press) – Technological advances are constant, helping different industries to innovate in their products or services. This is the case of heavy machinery, where the main brands in the world market want to adapt to technologies to launch models that improve the quality of life of users.

Last year the MaxControl system was launched for several brands of heavy machinery such as forklifts. Machines with which we carry out asphalting, earthmoving or excavation work.

The MaxControl system offers a plug and play remote control solution, which can be downloaded from the IOS (Apple) operating system. Where a smartphone is used to control the loading machinery. This ensures that users who operate these types of vehicles can do so remotely.

These are some of the benefits: It is not necessary to be inside the machine to open doors, park, load or unload materials. This provides more safety to operators and a more efficient work.

So far, the system has only been deployed in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, but it is expected to reach countries in Latin America to make work easier for operators.

What is needed for MaxControl to work?

All you need for this system is a smartphone. On the other hand, you need a good internet connection so that the machine does not fail while you are doing the work. It is important to be able to have a control of the network connection to do a good job.

Royal BAM introduces the world's first electric paving machine

June 06, 2022

(MAKRO Group Press) – The Dutch company BAM Infra Nederland has started the conversion of an asphalt paver into the world’s first all-electric version of this type of machine.

Together with its partners Wirtgen and New Electric, BAM Infra has replaced the combustion engine with an electric motor consisting of a fixed 270 KWh battery and two intelligently commutated electric motors.

A second 270 KWh battery that can be swapped out gives the paver the ability to immediately move on to the next project after a long day’s work. This battery can also be used in other electric equipment.

CO₂ savings of more than 93,000 kg.

Using the electric asphalt paver saves about 150 liters of diesel per eight-hour shift.

This equates to a reduction of more than 93,000 kilograms of CO₂ and 115,000 grams of nitrogen oxide per year.

The electric asphalt paver can be used for eight to ten hours with fully charged batteries.

In addition to reduced emissions, the electric asphalt paver also makes much less noise than a conventional machine.
